Tour de France Visuals

Not to be confused with the boring stats stuff --- this is awesome! Are you fed up with the same lame tame visuals over and over again at your techno parties? Fear not, here's an idea: Use the Tour[*]!

[*] Discoverd by accident. Hard hot July day at the office, as usual a play.fm-stream pumps nice Deep House into my ears. Suddenly: OMG, the Tour's on! Put a small window with a live stream next to my terminals. Look at the pics, listen to the music, and, like, totally OMG, it's a billion kinds of awesome! Really, it's stunning how good both fit...

Cycling footage contains a lot of impressive pictures. Emotional faces, suffering, joy, laughter and pain as well as stone cold expressions, long shots of revolving legs, pedals and wheels, contemplative shots of an ever-morphing pack of cyclists and all with a rhythm of its own that can be adjusted. Some cyclists are particularly well suited for your high visual impact. There's more than enough to cover any aspect of the typical dramaturgy of your techno set. Though I cannot judge that, I think that the estranged and absurd effect must be even stronger for people without any connection to cycling (races). But maybe it just won't touch you, who knows (until I get around to putting some samples up here).

Use TdF live footage to build visuals, mostly for Deephouse, Techhouse sets. Build libraries for different kinds of images: Dynamic (bobbing, weaving, attacking) and static (revolving pedals, close-ups, faces, peloton shots, ...), loop, overlay and mix, use various special scenes (victory celebrations, ...) for fun and profit.
